Woodstab Scales
There are many great knife manufactures today, but the standard scales and handles can be really boring. I have always enjoyed the classic look and feel of wood handles. In the past, Team Cuscadi has provided me with the classic look and feel I desire by upgrading my handles to Ebony, Thuya and Rosewood.
My latest upgrade has been to convert the Pohl Force Bravo One Outdoor into what I call “The Classic Gentleman’s Outdoor.” The scales are made from Woodstab. Woodstab is wood that is stabilized and conserved with a resin. The idea for this particular piece is that the Woodstab will be just as strong and durable as the original scales but provide the look of wood.
I must say that I am pleased with the results. The splated wood has nice tones and has dressed up the Bravo One. The Woodstab for this piece has a smooth texture similar to hard plastic or smooth carbon fiber.
This material looks very promising and appears to be very well suited as an alternative for wood with the added durability of the stabilization.
